I've known from a very young age that I wanted to be childfree since I'm very intolerant of children and feel like having one of my own would ruin my life.I've always been a dog lover and don't think there's a living creature on this earth more deserving of love, affection and attention.I'm 29,have been married for 3 years and together my husband and I have adopted 3 dogs as well as having one each from before the marriage.Adopting these little angels has been the best decision I've ever made. Why are so many people desperate for something that will do nothing ruin your appearance, your social life, your finances and take away your freedom when you can adopt a dog who will love you for life for a hell of a lot less than a child requires. Before anyone tells me I have no idea what I'm talking about since I never had a child,I did have a son at 21 whom I gave up for adoption and never looked back. What is wrong with people today? Why don't more couples adopt dogs rather than children?
My kids have not ruined my appearance or my social life or my finances. They have taken away no more of my freedom than your dogs do.
My kids are being raised to do good in this world. Your dogs aren't going to do anything but make you happy, while my kids are learning to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, minister to the sick and dying, fight social injustices, take care of the planet, create art that inspires people to goodness, etc., etc., etc.
I like dogs, but it's people who make the world a better place, when they have a mind to do so.Why don't more couples adopt dogs rather than children?
Knowing yourself is key. You know what your priorities are in life, and they mesh with your husband's priorities. That's really wonderful! It doesn't matter what other people would do in your situation. They aren't in your situation. Be true to yourself!
It's good you don't want to have more children. I pray for your poor son and your dogs.
LOOK everyone, it's the world's first talking DOG!!! What breed are you anyhow? IGNORANTAMUTT?
';What is wrong with people today?';
What's wrong with you?? Imagine everyone thought like you and everyone decided not to have kids...what would happen to the human race? We'd go extinct, duh. I'm really surprised that natural selection hasn't totally eliminated people like you. But then again, people like you make stupid mistakes such as getting pregnant accidentally and passing on their stupid genes to their kids that they just give up for adoption anyways because they don't have the ability to feel love for anything other than slobbering, smelly animals. At least I won't have to pick up my daughter's poop her entire life.
Lucky for your son that you gave him up.
Thank god you gave your baby up. Id sure hate to see how he would of grown up being raised by a selfish parent like you. I love my daughter. I wouldnt trade it for the world. I also love dogs but its not the same. Im glad your happy with your choices. Im happy with mine.
I suspect that more people do adopt dogs than adopt children. I know lots of homes with dogs and no adopted children.
Now, if you don't want children and are intolerant of them, you certainly should not have them, but wanting children and either having them or adopting them is no sign of something ';wrong'; with people, it's simply a choice you can't relate to. (Much like having a dog is for me.)
Good luck in your search for answers. In my case it's less about being loved than it is about loving and giving.
I think it's a matter of personal opinion and what you're looking for in life.
I agree that dogs are wonderful creatures. I love my dog so much. He's my first born.
But there's a whole different experience that comes from having a child of your own. I haven't had my daughter yet. She's due in a couple of days. But having something growing and living inside you... the finances, the physical appearance, the social life - those things all pale in comparison to me.
That being said. Babies aren't right for everyone. And certainly dogs aren't right for everyone. You really need to look at what you can handle, and what you want out of life.
I'm pretty sure that I'll be able to juggle what I want to do with having one child. (My husband and I have decided this will be our one and only.) You take on what you can... and others will do as they see fit.
Hope that explains a bit more?
Do you hope that your child is still up for adoption?
i too am an animal lover. I have tons of them! But let me tell you since having my son there is NOTHING in this world that i love more than my son..i could care less about ,y body..it is not ruined..just have to take care of yourself! no love for a dog could ever compare to the love of your own child.
some people would rather not have kids..but when they do they understand!
by the way what the hell is wrong with you? dont you ever wonder about the child you selfishly gave up??
SInce you believe having one of your own would ruin your life, then it's best you don't have children. It's good that you realize that you are self-centered. I'm not saying this in a bad way. There are many people who have children who are self-centered and the children suffer for it by being a burden to that person (my step-grandfather was like that). Do what you can to help others and live your life the way you choose. Realize that you lack some sort of nurturing element, which many others have. The fact that you don't want children is no reason to assume there is something wrong with others.
I have relatives who are intolerant of children as well and fortunately, chose not to have children. They are also pet lovers.
Well, thankfully not everyone holds the same views as you do or there wouldn't be anybody to parent the children in the world (biological or adopted).
I have five little angels...(human children). Two of them are my biological sons, two are my adopted daughters %26amp; one is my foster daughter. I cannot imagine my life without them. They add so much joy and fullness to my life. The adopted girls draw me pictures and leave me notes saying, ';I love you, Mom'; or ';You're my best mom';. The boys share their lives with me much more than any other teenage boy I'm aware of, they truly enjoy being with me...they even both still sit on my lap and give me love. My foster daughter sits on my lap as well and willingly shares her life and love with me.
I have the most wonderful fulfilling job in the world (outside of my ';job'; job). I get to pour my life into these five wonderful little people and know that I'm making the most worthwhile investment of my life in doing so. Dh feels the same way.
They will all someday be out in the world making their own way %26amp; whatever we've invested in them will come back to bless us. We'll have an opportunity to see them reach for their goals and dreams and hopefully attain those goals/dreams.
I also have a bunny and a dog. I love my pets, too. I treat them almost like more of my kids, but it's not even close to the same thing as far as relationship goes.
Now...for you, it's awesome that you knew from a young age and that you know now that you're not ready, willing and/or able to pour your life into a child and that you made an adoption plan for the son you gave birth to. That is truly awesome! You keep living out your dream and your life and I'll gleefully live mine out.
Will a dog continue your lineage?, will it carry your name?, will it resemble, or remind you of your mother...........,when u die can a dog name its puppy after u?, or burry u?.....people live on thru children.......the dog will never tell any one about u after you are gone, with a dog whn yo gone u go forever, the dog tho it loves will not write abt u any where, or tell any one abt u.. u will be forgotten. Thats why a child is better, and tell me when did a dog ever adopt a human being?
I'm assuming you are probably a kid trying to stir up trouble, and you did a good job, lol. If not, you are cold and callous, which is your perrogative, but why make disparraging remarks about people who love their children? Your statements are argumentative and you wanted to create a stir. Hope you had fun doing it. There are plenty of animals who need loving homes, so they are lucky to have you. Let's just hope that when you and your husband are old and unable to take care of yourselves that someone ';adopts'; you guys and takes care of you.......which at this point, isn't likely if you talk to people in real life the way you type on here. I think I kind of feel sorry for you. But, it takes all kinds to make the world turn round. At least you can say you have helped and contributed in some way by adopting and caring for the animals that you have. That's one saving grace for you, and thank you for that.
The question is what is wrong with you? just because you blame your mother for giving you such a miserable life doesn't mean that everyone should stop having children. What is next if everyone was sicko like you and start adopting dogs instead of giving birth? will the world be full of dogs or what? Use your mind (and what is left in you). I don't hate animals but I love more giving chances to humans than animals, it you know what I mean. Also not every child is a ruin to their families. They are very proud parents out there. You can't take one case and make it general. I am glad you give up your child. I am sure he is having the best of life possible right now and is sure the proud and joy of his loving and caring parents( I pray ) and one more thing, he is very lucky not to know you and have to listen to such comments( like the one you just posted) Good luck with you dogs, and once they die in about 17 years maximum, keep up the good work by adopting other dogs.Ewww you just spoil my eveving and make me want to vomit
Just because all people don't do everything exactly like you means they've got something wrong with them?? Man you need to grow up and quit being so narrow minded and maybe look at things through other peoples eyes. If you've always been so anti-children then why didn't you have enough sense to use birth control back when you had your son?
WOW, if people didn't adopt children than what would have happened to your son that you had at 21? Think about that for a second.
By the way, I have a dog that I love and three cats as well. That does not take away my desire to be a parent. If you want to be childless, so be it. That is your choice, not mine. If I want to adopt a child, that is my choice. Why can't people adopt children and dogs. Does it have to be either/or?
Maybe a child would have ruined *your* life. That doesn't mean they ruin other people's lives. ';What is wrong with people today?'; Maybe you should ask yourself that question...about yourself. You sound very negative and nasty. I'm sure the baby you gave birth to is much better off because you're not his mother. Thank you for letting him go to a family who probably loves and cherishes him.
To equate love for an animal with the love for a human is just bizarre. Do you love your dog as much as (or more than) your husband? Your parents? If you do, you're seriously disturbed. Dogs are great. I have one myself and I love her very much. But if I ever had to make a choice between her and my son, there wouldn't even be a second's hesitation: goodbye puppy! I'd miss her and feel terribly, but my son is much more important to me than a dog.
Just wait until you guys are old, no one come to visit. Dogs will never be comparable to children, my child makes me proud can dogs do that?
Because more people like children more than dogs, sweetie. I have no reason to want a dog, but I love children. You are more inclined to pets, most others are inclined to children.
Good question...by your logic, why even get married? Why not just have casual sex with a friend and get another dog for companionship?
A child is much different than a dog, I love my dogs ALOT there like my children but unlike you it dosnt help me urning and the thing deep inside me who wants a child more than life. I think that this whole question is absurd. I think you just need to realize people are different and you shouldn't try to preach or even question peoples reasons for wanting a baby instead of a dog.
To each their own. Everyone vaules different things. I have some friends who have dogs and no children and love it that way. I also have some friends like me who love having children. Only you know what is best for you and what you are willing to take on. It you feel children are nothing but stress and dog' are easier than do what works for you.
Well, I cant relate with you because Im 19 and a mom. Yes I have a few stretch marks and a couple extra pounds, but I'm still beautiful. I have a great social life and her grammy watches her if I want to go out on the weekensds once and a while. Babies do so much more then what you think. Those are just the downfalls. But, if you dont want children, there is no wrong in that. And bravo to you for giving your child up instead of aborting him but how could you not miss him? I wouldn't necessarily say theres something wrong with people today but I myself know that the greatest love there is, is the one for my daughter. Were getting a dog when shes bigger because you are right. They are loving loyal, friendly and protective, but they can never love you like your child can. And I hope for you if your son comes asking why you gave him up, you have a better answer than ';why would I want you when I could have a dog';
i'd take my children over my dogs anyday!!!!
Apparently your dog has ruined your life.
You are trolling a Pregnancy and Parenting page of a website just to generate arguments. I on the other hand, have a child that will love and depend on me for years to come. Your dog will live to maybe 20 years old, will never give you grandchildren, and will probably do nothing to make you nearly as proud as a child ever could.
you listen here missy, just because you are not maternal and you don't want any kids, does not mean everyone should do what you do. I have adopted 2 dogs, but that is not the same as adopting a human baby. sometimes animals cant fill the great void a person has wanting to build there families and are unable to do it naturally. children need as much love if not more then any animal on this earth, and don't get me wrong i love my dogs very much, but a baby means allot more to me.
Good Idea......They bring you Love and Joy and you don't have to send them to collage.
Stephanie
i agree, i don't like kids myself never have- never will, and prefer cats instead, cats and dogs will give you unconditional love unlike children,
Because dogs won't take care of you when you are old.

Best cities for young couples/families relitive to cost, crime, and entertainment?
My long-term girlfriend and I are considering moving to a different area because we have lived in central FL all of our lives and want to see other places before we start a family. I just graduated college and she is still attending a community college so we are pretty flexable. We both love the beach but we love hills and mountians as well. Does anyone have any ideas of cool towns or cities that might be good for young people?Best cities for young couples/families relitive to cost, crime, and entertainment?

Are you surprised most couples don't have toilet celebrations and homecomings?
You gotta be kidding me? Why wouldn't anyone have such celebrations? OMG !!Are you surprised most couples don't have toilet celebrations and homecomings?
I'm sure closing the door became a liability for some couples after the 1st year. But i'd still expect my girl to close the door, most of the time. Are you surprised most couples don't have toilet celebrations and homecomings?
It's like my grandma always used to say, the couple that is at one with their excretory triumphs, is the couple that stays together.
Hey, it is where we spend a lot of time. Why not say a toast to your favorite toilet.
No.
What the f* are you talking about?
Why?

How many married couples have got into fights because of Oprah?
Just wondering,it's bad enough all her ';Drones'; buy the books she tells them to buy.How many husbands have told their wives Oprah should keep her fata.s.s out of politics? How many married couples have got into fights because of Oprah?
LMAO. My husband isn't that crude. But we do laugh a lot about how Oprah seems to think she rules the world. How many married couples have got into fights because of Oprah?
As a citizen of the United Sates of America Oprah has just as much right as the next person to endorse a candidate.
Now if one does not wish to watch her show SIMPLY b/c she has exercised her right as an American they have that right.
On the other hand we as Americans are supposed to respect anothers right to chose.
Thus to become angry with Oprah as a result of her endorsement is the mark of a shallow and weak person.
A reasonable woman can make her own decision regardless of her best friends or even husbands opinion.
Why are so many men seemingly so cowered by Oprah?
Just a fight racing to get the remote to change the channel!
Well thank you! Another reason to be glad I don't watch her show or others like it.
We don't fight about other people. Neither of us watch Opera.

Question regarding the couples i would see?
At my job, where alot of couples would come in, i would notice alot of beautifull women with average or below average guys. i dont get it at all....I know for me, since im average an attractive woman will never go for me. But how do these guy do it? Whats their secret? Is it really possible that an alright guy can get a date? I just assume no one is interested in me cause i dont get approachedQuestion regarding the couples i would see?
You need to approach them, dummy.Question regarding the couples i would see?
pretty girls go for the bad guy image but prefer the nerd or average guy heart and love... in the end it's the nerd that'll be in her bed day and day out..
even though these days women approach men more and more they still like the fact of a man going up to her..that shows confidence and you should just go for it instead of waiting for her to come to you...
If you come across as confident, you will see some changes. Women don't normally find an attraction to men carrying a sign that says ';I am average, you can find better';. Don't blow your ego out of proportion but have some confidence that shows through your personality.
It's not their looks, it's their personality. I probably would not be dating my bf now if I was shallow enough to base my relationships off of looks. But what I love about him is how he makes me laugh and how well we get together. You should take the first step and approach the women. Nothing will ever happen if you just sit around waiting.
Attractive women are actually easier to meet, a lot of guys won't approach these girls so they're always hoping for someone to step up to them.
Be kind, funny, interesting and pay attention to her. That's all that women want, it doesn't matter much how you look.
Maybe the big difference is that the man wasn't afraid to put himself out there and take a chance. Just because a woman is pretty to some people, doesn't mean she sees herself that way. Anyway, the man caught her attention by speaking up but kept her attention by treating her well.
The more money you have, the more attractive the women will be that you can get.
It always cracks me up how average men like you seem to think you somehow DESERVE a woman that is more attractive than you are.....
You could try doing the approaching. However, most women look at other things besides whether a guy is average or above average looking. Most of them want personality.
Well, let's go with this: Women are more attractive then men. 80% of women out there are beautiful. 20% of guys are very handsome. After a while, pretty girls will be with regular guys. It's pure odds.
Firstly never assume and why are you not approaching them it is all in the attitude my boy if you are confident women find this very sexy what you look like is second to this!
If it makes you feel any better, I've seen HOT men with average or below average women.
maybe those guys are good in bed and aren't too full of themselves... :D
laughter goes a long way with a woman... make her laugh and you can get her into the sack quite quickly.. :D
Maybe they are really wealthy or maybe they put their girlfriend's or wfe's need first.

Do good looking couples make good looking babies?
Not neccessarily. Like the person above me said, I've seen ugly couples make cute babies and vice versa. Genetics is such a funny phenomenoa - you just don't know what you'll get! All in all, I would say that it's safe to assume that good looking couples have a higher probability to have a ';normal'; looking child.Do good looking couples make good looking babies?
haha I wondered this myself. But i have seen good looking couples who didnt have such cute kids. And i can honestly say I have seen not attractive couples have the cutest kids ever.. i think it depends on what particular features the child gets from their parents and how well the genes mesh up together. And sometimes due to genes children come out looking like one of the grandparents or great grandparents e.t.cDo good looking couples make good looking babies?
nobody knows, but I've heard that babies that are mixed from different races are usually beautiful, stronger and more immune to diseases. like black and white, chinese and white, middle-eastern and Caucasian.
yes!!.... because the babie couples os looking for the babies

How many married couples watch porn together...and do you have certain rules...and why do you watch it?
Yes my husband and i have enjoyed watching porn together for many yrs.
We have no rules and we watch it because its can be very arousing and it gives us new ideas. How many married couples watch porn together...and do you have certain rules...and why do you watch it?
My husband and I watch porn all the time and love it. It's a regular part of foreplay and its wonderful (and hot) to have it on in the background during sex. I was a little shy about it at first but now i think it's absolutely liberating and exciting. Happily married!
How many married couples watch porn together...and do you have certain rules...and why do you watch it?
My husband and I do. We do it for something different to make life a little spicy. And I am the porn finder so no rules ( I don't do men on men). And it turns me on. I am always finding new ones. We only watch the same one 2-3 times before I'm bord of it. But it helps to keep the heat on. And I have never met a man but him ok with watching it with me. He likes it too and if you can do something like that together. I think you are very comfy with each other and can say or do anything with that person. It took us a while to get there but we have a great relationship.:)
We do watch it together. We usually get the cheasy ones that have a story line like pirates and laugh while these people are trying to act and yes gets us both in the mood. My husband likes to watch porn while he cleans the house...not sure why but at least he is cleaning. Any way I like to have it on and laugh, and watch part of it just before we go out for our running around. It makes both him and I horny and shopping is twice as fun that way. When we get home we put it back on and have FUN!
Well for me and my husband we watch it for the fun of it and no rules. If we came across something we've never done before then we'll try it for the heck of it. I don't know bout others but I think porn can get boring. I rather put on a show myself lol.
We do. We don't have any rules I can think of, other than the fact that I don't enjoy male gay porn. LOL...
Why? Because it's arousing, and sometimes gives us some ideas about a specific role play or something we'd like to try.
We don't but I wish we did. My husband prefers to watch it on the internet on his own. I think he is too self-conscious/uptight to watch it with me. He's like that about several things involving sex.
Yep, we do. We don't have rules either! Mostly, we just watch the beginning, and glance a little here and there.....works for us!
we do. we watch it to get in the mood. for him it just takes a few minutes and then sometimes we just glance at it.
Only crazy couples would watch those together.

We sometimes do, no rules. It helps us get in the mood and gives us ideas.
How come on those Eharmony commercials they never show interracial couples getting together?
as many interracial couples as there are in the world, you would think on their comercials they would couples of different races ';hooking up'; but they dont.asian with asian, black with black, latin with latin ,white with white, it's so boring. in my family, and alot of my friends, it seem to be nothing but interracial couples, and i have dated women of different races. How come on those Eharmony commercials they never show interracial couples getting together?
I don't know either..I met my current woman on eharmony. I am white and she is black. We both hit it off from the start and have been accepted by her family and friends. We are getting married in June and have been dating a year and a half. She is everything I have ever wanted. My family has embraced her and the ';race'; issue has never surfaced. I have written eharmony and never recieved a response from them about their commercials..my thing is, who cares?? Indian love marriage couples...Are you happy with the outcome of your marriage?
You have sacrificed the trust and faith that your parents had on you , do you really think you did the right thing. will you allow your sisters or daughter to follow your foot prints..Thanks for giving me sincere reply.Your advise is worth for young girls Indian love marriage couples...Are you happy with the outcome of your marriage?
Why are you assuming
Love Marriage = Sacrifice trust and faith of your parents?
I fell in love with a person, got to know him, and then we both got married. We are still in love, happy and at peace. We hope our parents are happy for us too. If they are not, too bad.
When my sisters or daughters are old enough, they will take their own free decisions, I will have no right to ';allow'; or ';not allow'; anything they want to to do. If asked, I will offer my advice and opinion, but the final decision and its consequences are theirs alone.
Indian love marriage couples...Are you happy with the outcome of your marriage?
Yes I do give my permission to my children to choose their life partner. Moreover what is the question of sacrificing the trust and faith. It means you are taking extreme steps to perform love-marriage. If you are doing anything without hiding or with the consent of elders than what is bad in it?
its not the type of marraiges that decides happiness among couples. understanding and respect towards each other is necessary for bringing happiness to one's married life. well my family members who went for love marraige are very happy

Should government give handguns to inter-caste & inter-religious marriage couples to protect themselves?
??? To protect from whom? Should government give handguns to inter-caste %26amp; inter-religious marriage couples to protect themselves?
i think no one should have weapons. especially government should not be handing out guns for free. this will just increase crime rate.
the government should educate people to tolerate other races/relegions.Should government give handguns to inter-caste %26amp; inter-religious marriage couples to protect themselves?
No guns, Govt should educate people for equality in all and should also get back from quota system to get people's trust in this matter
That may not solve the problem. At best, it may increase blood shed only. People should realise the reality. Govt. should educate the public
no there is no any low for your requirement

Why do single couples like to stay engaged for over 2 years , why dont they get married ?
What's the rush? I think it's very sensible.
The majority of couples spend their entire engagement completely consumed with planning and discussing the wedding. They don't even give themselves any time just to enjoy being engaged!
They can be blinded to any problems that may be hiding underneath all the wedding talk. Seen it happen a lot!Why do single couples like to stay engaged for over 2 years , why dont they get married ?
I think its good to wait the longer the better. Im engaged and have been for a year and half we just set our date for Oct.09Why do single couples like to stay engaged for over 2 years , why dont they get married ?
Money, wedding planning, honeymoon planning.
To really get to know each other. even then life changes and you don't know them the way you think you do.
they need time to get to know each other better, thus making sure there would be no regrets in the future.

Where can i find affordable wedding bands for same sex couples?
Congratulations! May you share long years, great joys and small troubles. It depends on exactly what you want and where you are.. if you want simple, traditional bands then any jeweler will have a good selection. If you want something that reflects your orientation,if you're in or near a major city, no problem, you know (or should know) which businesses are GLBT friendly, ask around for a jeweler. If you're in a less than ';cosmopolitan'; area, check out the ads in the back of The Advocate or Out, many gay-friendly jewelers offer beautiful committment bands at civilized prices.
I googled ';Committment Bands'; and one of the results was this site..http://gaymart.com/shoptfj/1catgory/c058鈥?/a> which has some seriously georgeous options.Where can i find affordable wedding bands for same sex couples?

How can couples make it till the end of their life and boy& girfriends stay two years only?
Thinking of married couples as a girl and boyfriend with no problems what so ever for 60 years. How can this happen. I am amazed. I think human is still stupid to surround himself with stupd commitments like marriageHow can couples make it till the end of their life and boy%26amp; girfriends stay two years only?
I would tell u that marriage is not about being stupid. Girlfriend and boyfriend are only having fun, they are not committed 2 each other, that is why they break up after 2 years or so. Marriage is a big step, is all about loving someone, settling down spending the rest of your life with him. If you love something and it is special 2 u, u will keep it safe until u die, then you will pass it 2 someone else. remmeber that true love dont die. If u think it is stupidity to be with someone for 60 years then you are not marriage type, and you are a player. Just image if u are not married until u become 60 or so, how many partners would u have by then. Would u prefer 2 be from one partner 2 another. After 2 years u break up, seek another one and so on. Grow up and try 2 see the bright sight of marriage. How can couples make it till the end of their life and boy%26amp; girfriends stay two years only?
please dont ever get married then
its depends on their mentality.. for me ma life and future husband is priceless..
Everything changes with age maybe its out of style.
When you are bf and gf , you still make a commitment toward each other. Marriage is to take one step further , saying that I trust you and would like to spend my life with you no matter what. And I would like to us to have children to continue and as a prove of our love.
If you feel that marriage is stupid , then don't marry. My guess is you haven't found someone that you truly love and trust.
Of course there are fights in any marriage, but you should be able to overcame it if both of the partners want to solve it with love.

Are all couples distant at high school?
There this boy and this girl who got me thinking. They don't hang around a lot and never kiss in public. Now at least. They used to hang around each other and always talk to one another but they don't now. And I know for a fact that the girl really likes the boy. So whats up? Is this a normal couple thing? Are all couples distant at high school?
If they were really interested in each-other, they'd spend a lot of time together. My boyfriend and I walk to every single class together and have every lunch together. Maybe that's just us?

How do couples function with enormous student loan debt and spending habits in California?
I was dating a girl for 5 months who was really quite wonderful until I came to the realization that she was $100,000 in student and car loan debt (75k student/ 25k car). She obtained her Master's in Social work at an expensive school and a job which was spiritually beneficial but not financially helpful. Being 30 and having goals to want to live in a house someday I felt like the only way to help things move forward in the relationship was to get a 2nd or 3rd job to help her pay down her debt and/or for her to live with me rent free. In the meantime, she was responsible in paying down the debt with minimum payments but spent her excess cash on coffees, massages and eating out which made me think perhaps we had different philosophies on spending. While debt can't ruin your life of having some instant gratifications im interested in understanding how couples function with the burden of student debt lingering over them if they aspire to have a family and a buy a condo in California? How do couples function with enormous student loan debt and spending habits in California?
One of the most common causes of couple discord is MONEY (sex, inlaws, communication, and children are the others). But money is a powerful one. You are right to look at your relationship to money. Clearly your girlfriend has a different relationship if she is only paying back the minimum and engaging in other more of a CA lifestyle. You sound like you are much more frugal. As for how to survive. The key is to pay down that debt. Your friend might look and see if she qualifies for any loan repayment programs - There are programs that will repay for people to work in certain fields within social work (Child Welfare for example). This would allow her to get out from some of the debt. DAHow do couples function with enormous student loan debt and spending habits in California?
You must always be careful with credit cards, car loans, mortgages and debt consolidation. Persoanlly, I was in debt of over $100,000 at one point in time, roughly 4 years ago. I am proud to say I am now DEBT FREE. It is very confusing on what to pay first how to chop down your debt, but there is a lot of good content out there to help. I have also started my own blog to help people out by talking about what I think is important. Check it out sometime!
http://credit-and-loans.blogspot.com/
My solution: Move to Georgia.
you have to get ';gazelle intense'; as dave ramsey says. buy his book the total money makeover. its a road map to debt free living. getting out of debt is a winnable war, and quicker than you might think. but it takes discipline.
unless she gains controle of her own finances i wouldnt step up the relationship. if you marrie her for some reason her dept becomes yoursoil companies

Explain how couples execute different dance steps while dancing in the dancefloor?
likea dancing in the rain, snow skiing, ice-star gazing? it's a matter of code@coincidence, chance@grace that makes partners dance perfectly with one another, no rehearsals, live@faith-filled, all because of first-true love! Explain further? No, I can't. It's our lovers' secret code we've vowed to keep sacred@';For our EYEs only';. It's a miracle@magic kept in God's hands, we even ourselves cannot decode nor decipher, for we're just roleplayers, and not ourselves the authors. It's for keeps, for generations to come, as how we've come to discover deeper@truer realms of ourselves dating back as 3to4 generations behind. Challenging? Most exciting@thrilling for me that keeps me going everyday@gives my life meaning so that I could say to him whom I love, ';You mean everything to me';. Destiny? So it shall be, when God ever wills*Explain how couples execute different dance steps while dancing in the dancefloor?
It's a matter of training and practice for what you see in general dancing, but what you see on TV is more a matter of choreography, with the couple doing an entire pre-programmed routine.
It's less obvious in social dances than in formal ballroom, but the same principles apply, so let me use the latter as an example. There are multiple points of contact. The man's left and the lady's left hand are together, the man's right hand is on the lady's left shoulder blade, the lady's right hand is on the man's right upper arm, and his right and her left arm are touching in between those points. There's also contact down one side of the body and even in the upper thighs. One learns to move these body parts in unison. When the man moves, the lady only has two choices: she can collapse her frame (bad) or move with him (good). If both are keeping their frame, they'll have an immediate and continuous communication. If they're keeping a good frame, they can't help but move together. And the options are pretty limited if you isolate things for study: If you're standing with your weight on your left leg and planning to move your right, it can only go forwards, backwards or sideways. So it's all built from such simple concepts. The basic elements are not that great a number, and the complicated patterns are simply a combination of the more basic elements.. Again, training and practice.

Why do couples live happily together for years and years then tie the knot and split up?
Makes no sense. What is it about the little marriage certificate and legalization of your love that causes people to split? Why do couples live happily together for years and years then tie the knot and split up?
This is an interesting analysis on co-habitation and later divorce:
http://archives.cnn.com/2002/US/07/24/cd鈥?/a>
It says: ';Couples who live together before marriage may be the type of people who are ';more likely to consider divorce,';
It's not that the experience of living together that causes divorce, but just the type of people who do it may be more likely to divorce. Why do couples live happily together for years and years then tie the knot and split up?
Nothing little about it, pal.
Marriage changes your identity. When you live together, you know that if your partner misbehaves, you have options. They know that too. Those options narrow to nothing when you're married. Breaking up after marriage means having the state government deciding who gets to drive off with your stuff! It means attorneys and alimony payments and possibly years of litigation if things go wrong.
Plus, a spouse suddenly becomes the ONE you forsook all others for, and no one is perfect, and when that ONE person makes a mistake or neglects you or is rude to you, you feel like a complete idiot for elevating them to be the one and only person to satisfy you forever.
Fights get much angrier when the level of expectation rises so high.
Now, don't even start on the introduction of children to a happy marriage. I have yet to see the marriage that survives the stork.
There ya go, question answered, mission accomplished. I may log off early tonight.
I think its because they've become a habit. They probably liked each other %26amp; began living together as a matter of convenience. I suspect that eventually one says to the other - Marry me or else!
When they finally marry, I think many of them realize that they don't really love each other %26amp; committing to each other was a mistake.
My philosophy has always been: If you love someone enough to live with them, then get married.
If you don't love someone %26amp; its only like -don't live together! You're wasting your life when you could be out there finding the love of your life!
You really can't generalize. Maybe they outlived their relationships lifespan. Maybe one person started expecting more of the other person. ( such as, ';now we are married, you should stop hanging with the guys so much';)
The marriage certificate does not cause the split, the people do. Many more people split after shacking up, we just don't have a way of keeping stats on them.

This is an interesting analysis on co-habitation and later divorce:
http://archives.cnn.com/2002/US/07/24/cd鈥?/a>
It says: ';Couples who live together before marriage may be the type of people who are ';more likely to consider divorce,';

How do couples stay together for so long?
people in long relationships -whats the secret? How do couples stay together for so long?
Love
Care
Understanding
and enjoy common things together
Trust too :DHow do couples stay together for so long?
Couples stay together for so long because they have invested time, love, money, effort, raised kids, and basically built a life together. It takes mutual love, respect, patience, admiration, a little bit of sacrifice and compromise...and a GREAT sense of humor to hold it all together. My husband and I have a lot of laughs and that def helps.
Every couple is different. Some of them stay together because of love. Some stay for money. Some stay out of fear. Some stay for religious reasons. I'm no expert on relationships, but I can tell you that my husband and I are still together because we vowed to be together forever.
My mom has been married 5 times and that taught me not to run when things are rough.
Laugh...laugh alot. If someone has no humor its a hard thing..a relationship takes a number of things. Respect, patience, trust and having fun!! You can't ever NOT laugh. Raising kids and being in a long relationship takes much work but if you can't laugh then whats the point.Giving each other space when needed.Walking away for a while and not talking while your mad, wait until your anger is gone and then talk. If you don't do that things get said that aren't always meant but when people are mad they say some hurtful things. It takes work but anything worthwhile does.
respect, patience and compromise all play a part. that and not sweating the small stuff. eventually you realize that most of it IS small stuff

and definetly... anger control :)

Are there any legal ';Codes of Behavior'; that divorced couples with children need to adhere to?
Doing what is right for the children should come naturally, without rules and regulations. Are there any legal ';Codes of Behavior'; that divorced couples with children need to adhere to?
As a divorced parent I make it my job to make sure I remain friends with their father.....its not a legal thing....just BETTER FOR THE KIDS!!
One would think this would be obvious to parents but apparently when the D word comes up they figure its ok to ONLY think about themselves and what they are going through....meanwhile their kids are terrified. My kids are teens now....and I still after 7 years of divorce find that people are shocked I am friends with my ex. I can tell you my son has told me it made it easier for him. For us too.....no battles over stuff....we talk weekly about the kids. Are there any legal ';Codes of Behavior'; that divorced couples with children need to adhere to?
Not much of one, unfortunately. Its why we see children in the mess they are today.
The ACLU wouldnt allow the government to set forth laws that would be HEALTHY for the kids, because it might infringe on some nutcase parents rights.
Attornies have made such a screaming mess of our country that it would be nice to go back 250 yrs and outlaw them.
Actually, yes there can be. Usually, this is laid down in the divorce decree. If it isn't in the decree, it isn't much of a problem - outside of common decency %26amp; child care, etc. MANY states require that BOTH parents attend a parenting class that teaches them how to deal with their children %26amp; support their children emotionally through the divorce process. Arkansas does this, and so do many other states.
Use common sense and not revenge. Your children are children. They don't need to see or hear you fighting and they don't need to be in the middle.
Just do what is best for the children.oil companies

How many couples do you know that are divorced?
I recently found out that my aunt and uncle are getting a divorce, after 25 years of marriage - he cheated on her with a co-worker- This is the 4th relative i know thats seperating
It seems that lately so many people are divorcing!
Why do you think this is?How many couples do you know that are divorced?
I went to a party last week and half of the couples I know are divorcing.
I think that the holidays make you reflect on what you want and don't want in your life. How many couples do you know that are divorced?
Money and lack of sex. I have been married for 15 years, i have not had any sex for 18 months, and if it were'nt for the $600,000 dollars it would cost me, i would boogie also!
I've known four people. But there have been five divorces. Yeah, one got divorced twice. Most just go on with life and others found someone else when they were ready. Just tell ur aunt to keep herself busy. IF she has kids, tell her to chill out with them. Give it time. God will help her heal.
I'm a divorced single mom at 30. I think divorce has become so common because everyone seems to be doing it - It's so prominent in the media that we've suddenly deemed it as an appropriate option. My divorce resulted from abuse %26amp; infidelity, but many marriges seem to fail these days because people seem to think it should be a lot easier than it really is. A good marriage involves a willingness to compromise %26amp; communicate no matter what the circumstance - nobody seems to want to work that hard anymore.
A lot of people go through divorces caused by different reasons.
If there is a lack of communication in a marriage and rather then seeking help, one or the other partner goes out and seeks love or lust in other places, then a marriage will probably and most commonly be ruined.
I believe that divorce is more common because people take the easy way out instead of working together in trying to make things work out and trying to get help to change some of their bad habits and to compromise.
Surprisingly, I only know of a few divorced couples.
One day at a time. It is so difficult to focus on anything other than basic survival when you have such a monumental lifestyle change that just staying in the moment for now is best. Allow yourself to feel everything that comes. Be still and listen to yourself. How are you? Express your feelings. Invest in a journal and find some quiet time. Do a little investigating as to why the divorce happened. This helps in the future if you doubt yourself. Remeber that grief has stages. They are not fluid. Sometimes you are angry and sometimes you are so sad. Remeber that you are never alone. Reach out for support. Be supportive. Good luck. This is the response for advice for mid 40's divorcee to be.
A bunch! why? I think sometimes there are lots of good reasons people should divorce and sometimes people just do not want to put the effort it takes into a marriage anymore.
At least 13 that have been divorced at least once in the past
Out of 12 couples I can think of that got married at around the same time, only two remain married.
I think selfishness and the ';me-ism'; that exists in today's society makes getting divorced pretty easy, even though it's very painful.
I've been married once and since being divorced have lost all sense of value in the institution.

If more couples held hands in the supermarket, do you think they might finally widen the isles?
That is a genius idea! Those aisles are already so small. If we had a ';hand-holding'; week, those conglomerates just might be inspired to do what they already should have done - widen them aisles! I can barely get around the carts and scooters. If more couples held hands in the supermarket, do you think they might finally widen the isles?
I think this is a stupid question and you know it's a stupid question, you probable asked it out of boredom. If not then do you think they actually give a **** if there is not enough room, seriously all they care about is your wallet and or purse. If more couples held hands in the supermarket, do you think they might finally widen the isles?
No. The supermarket slows you down so that you will buy more, or at least that is their thinking. Really doesn't matter, big mama and her cart can block a 12 foot isle.
This question's ridiculous...
Supermarket people aren't gonna be considerate of that or even notice.
Finally, then I'll have a little peace of mind knowing we can walk hand in hand freely down the aisles with out any trouble.
Hmmm....No
hahahahaha! I doubt it :p
Kinda rubbing it in the faces of the single, dont you think?
You would think! Or at least for the people in those power carts.
Jeff just doesn't wanna hold my hand anymore.
Yeh
good idea
uhh NO
oh. sure they will
no
they only want one cart to fit
no
I love this question ! Hah , prolly nawt though ):
Those fuckers .
Pssh like they care about us
how else does big mama get through?
lmao i doubt it but good Q

For Married Couples: How often do you go on road trips, vacations or getaways with your spouse?
We dont get a chance to do this very often BUT we would like to be able to someday and are looking forward to when we will be able to... Right now we go out alone alot and date and things like that. We want a weekend get away someday though BUT with the kids and his work and my mom living with us right now it is just not happening as of yet. It definitley is one of our goals though. For Married Couples: How often do you go on road trips, vacations or getaways with your spouse?
We dont have time for road trips anymore...when we were in the military we had more than our share of road trips.
Vacations once a year if we can. And getaways every chance we get even if its for a day.For Married Couples: How often do you go on road trips, vacations or getaways with your spouse?
Once a year for at least 5 days!
This year we are going away with kids for a week, and then a week for our selfs!
Every week if I can.
Never. We do everything together as a family.
Usually once or twice a year, for about 5-7 days for each getaway.
We try at least three times a year. When the kids were smaller at least once a year, now with them being young adults we make them go away and we have the house to ourselves.
We try for once a year, but as the years go on, and the more children we have... life seems to get in the way! We always shoot to at least take small road trips once or twice a year just to get away.
we LIKE to be home, but we do go on road trips/getaways at least a dozen times a year
My wife and I went on at least one vacation a year. It gave us a time to enjoy each other that much more away from all the day to day problems and she deserved a couple of weeks of being waited on for a change. She took pride in keeping an immaculate house and she deserved that two weeks a year and more.
My husband and I have been married for 15 years and have 2 children. We go on a date at least once a month. We like to take road trips at least twice a year, even if it's only a 2 hour drive. Being in the car gives us time to talk and spend time together without phone, TV, or knocks on the door. The dates allow us a little romantic time away from the kids and a nice quiet dinner.
We plan a once a year 3-4 day holiday. We also try to go out at least once a month together
as often as financially possible...
more often than not, weekend trips to places a couple hours away, or friends houses in other states.

Are couples suppose to have sex every night on their honeymoon?
just curious.....Are couples suppose to have sex every night on their honeymoon?
if they want toAre couples suppose to have sex every night on their honeymoon?
Do whatever you want, have sex all the time, have sex a few times- whatever makes you comfortable. It's your life - there are no rules, do whatever you feel like you want to do on your honeymoon- don't feel pressured- just relax and it'll happen naturally- probably a lot more if you're not worried about it! Being married is great and those first couple of days/nights are incredible- just focus on being happy, stay on that cloud!
There is no rule as to what you do at your honeymoon.
Some people may not have any (depending on the length) I know I probably won't have a lot. We've been living together for 4 years so it's nothing new to us and our honeymoon is an 18 day (10 country) tour of Europe, we're going to be so wiped every night. We'll definately make sure to have some sex, but it probably won't be too often.
Now, if we were both virgins I'd probably be wanting it every night, if not 2 or 3 times per day. In that case, we'd probably just go to a resort somewhere and rarely leave the hotel room. lol
Heck no. My wife and I went on a romantic Caribbean cruise for our honeymoon. We both thought we would be getting it on twice a day every day. But it wasn't the case, there were so many activities going on that we were tired most of the time. Although it is nice, it isn't necessary to get it on every night.
Depends on how horny and crazy the newly married couple are about each other.. lol
If they are hot n heavy then it sure is a great way to make time fly in between playing tourist and seeing the cites of the city they're honeymooning in hehehe :)
I'm sure not all couples have sex every night on their honey moon, but I'm sure most are...I dunno there's just something about sex being nice when you're first dating, and then when u're engaged it gets better and then when you're married and having sex for the first time as a married couple it takes that feeling of intimacy to an amazing whole whole new level..
Supposed to? Naw.... I mean couples who have been together a long time and are having a really adventurous honeymoon may not have time to. Couples who are virgins before their wedding may work up to the actual sex after a few nights of just foreplay and such. I probably will with my man cuz that is just normal for us, but I doubt I will have it on my wedding night because we will likely be exhausted.
Well depends up to you I guess. Sex isnt pressured its just a natural thing between 2 people that love each other. Do it in the morning after breakfast, after lunch, IDK whenever you want talk to him about itafter all your married to him!
DUDE.....YES! If you have already had sex then it should be a given. But if either of you have never had sex. My advice is to communicate. If you want to have sex every night then let her know. And go from there.
Have fun!! (wink, wink)
No only if you two want to. You should go out to eat on romantic dinners and have fun together you do not have to have sex every night.
whew! what a question i don't think so sex is something you feel deep inside when love is involved and it does not require a set of standards it just happens when the mood is right.
haha,no,although if they saved themselves till their wedding night they'd be mad for it every night.................im with my bf 10 years,no wedding on the cards yet...but i can assure you we wouldnt be doin it everynight.haha
their arent any rules to a honey moon, just try and have a good time. and remember to take both of your feelings into account. remember your supposed to be having fun.
I wouldn't say they are ';supposed'; to. I wouldn't even say most do actually have sex EVERY night on their honeymoon. I guess it would depend on how long the honeymoon is, etc.
honestly? most couples are too tired. my husband and i were. it's what's ';supposed'; to happen, but if you ask most couples, it happens the next day.
There's no set rules. Every relationship is different. Also depends on your age!
If you're over 70 then I imagine you'd be happy to do it once a week!
Well, I would!!!!!! But, this is coming from a guy, so I would like to have sex EVERY night, not just every night on my honeymoon.
no you just have it whenever you feel like it. sometimes you miss a night, sometimes it's twice in one day..
if that's their thing. but i don't know of any written law about sex every night while honeymooning. i think somebody's trying to jive you.
Just go with the flow of the night. What happens, happens. Don't feel obligated to anything.
Are couples supposed to TALK about their intimate life with anyone else?!!
Supposed= have to? Who says so......
lol no.....how often depends on the couple, there are NO rules.
Uh, you don't HAVE to of course, but hell, why wouldn't you want to unless you were REALLY tired?? LOL
3 times.
no i wouldn't say every night. my hubby and i were on our honeymoon for 1 week and only had sex twice.
um idk? im not married and hopefully not for another few years!!!! robably depends on the couple! ( ;
Jamie....there are no set rules...you should do it as many times as the two of you would like. Enjoy it :-)
Yes, only about 5 or 6 times.
they should have sex when they want to, its not state law.
it's up to the couple if they want to have sex every night
Depends on the couple I suppose lol
whatever you desire is what your supposed to do. There are no rules.

LOL
3 times.
no i wouldn't say every night. my hubby and i were on our honeymoon for 1 week and only had sex twice.
um idk? im not married and hopefully not for another few years!!!! robably depends on the couple! ( ;
Does couples counselling work?
He is divorced and unsure he is capable of being family man again not sure he wants to be, but wants me in his life forever. I have trust issues that he isnt going to hurt me (by leaving me telling me i am not what he wants in his life). We both love each other so much and dont want to lose one another at all. looking for ways to deal with and get passed this.Does couples counselling work?
Pre Marriage counseling is a good option for you. You can go over what may be holding you back from getting married. And a good counselor would tell you their concern about issue that may cause problems later on. Or they may tell you all together that there are to many concerns for you to get married. It will also may sure that you are both on the same page about life, your future, kids, money etc...Does couples counselling work?
If you really try and have an open mind, it can work. But if you go in there with a closed mind and not wanting to try, your just wasting your time. Determine if your going to go, or if your going to change. That will tell you if it works or not.
Couples counseling only works if both keep an open mind and use the opportunity to its fullest.
If you both really want it to work then couples counseling is a good way to express your feelings because they ask all the right questions and you can vent about the things in your relationship that are hard.
But if you are unsure that it will work out right between the two of you then try to wait a while before making any big decisions.

Should couples pay their mothers to babysit their kids?say less than they would pay a regular babysitter?
I just want your opinion...mothers don't ask much money they prob don't even ask for any...but i think that couples should pay them something too especially since they have years of experience in raising kids as oposed to some young girl babysitter who might not know as much and u must pay her at least $10/hour..whereas u can pay your mom $5 i'm sure she would take anything...old people need money too. i think its is unfair thinking and taking advantage of mothers who have to babysit kids for free...they had enough stress in their lives already.Should couples pay their mothers to babysit their kids?say less than they would pay a regular babysitter?
My sister totally takes advantage of our parents! They have practically raised her 2 children and is so burnt out that they won't keep mine! She has never once offered any compensation! I think she should- they have lives too that have to be put on hold to take care of her kids. People should at least buy gifts or something for them if they won't take money for it.
I think people are wrong for expecting grandparents to take care of their kids.Should couples pay their mothers to babysit their kids?say less than they would pay a regular babysitter?
the occasional gift is a nice idea.but what sort of grandparent would want to be paid.help clean up the mess when u pick the kids up that would be reward enough.signed granny.
As a mom now, I think that when my son gets older and has children of his own, I would not allow him to pay me for child care services. My mom, who watches my son, does charge me for child care services, in her case, I find this unfair because she did not raise me. I was raised by my father and step-mother. My step-mother who has recently retired, has volunteered to keep my son one of the 2 days each week that I need childcare. My mother has complained about this not because she misses my son's company, but because it cuts the amount of money she gets from me in half. Mind you, my mother works full-time, and the flexibility of her full-time job leaves room for her to care for her grandchildren in her home. My step-mother who watches my son, will not allow me to pay her anything for her time. She takes him to swimming classes which she pays for (I have paid for the class several times only to have her come behind me and deposit the money for the classes into my account). She has taken him to story hours, and other places for children to go. For her it is fun and it is time for her to spend with my son doing things that are just them. I have tried to pay her, but the most she will allow me to do is to send food for meals for my son during thr day. (Which she has remedied by going grocery shopping with my son to allow him to pick things for him to eat when he is at her house).
Being a single mom, who works full-time, and is in school full-time, this is such a big help to me. If my real mother were not so motivated by money, I wouldn't have as much of a problem paying her. As it is, my mother charges me $100/week for child care. I could have my son in a licensed childcare center for $135/week, but I do not want him supervised by someone who is not family until he is at least 3 years of age, and thoroughly capable of expressing to me if anything happens to him.
If the grandparents watch the kids, I think they should pay them double what they pay the babysitter. Grand kids run over their grandparents in one way or another at one time or another. I think if the grandparent agrees, then they should get paid well.
It depends on the situation. Most grandparents will babysit for free, because they enjoy spending time with their grandkids. If they live just round the corner and are constantly being asked to babysit and they find this intrusive, they may feel inclined to ask to be paid. My kids are 18 and 20 now and I never paid my mum or mum-in-law to babysit as they lived far away and didn't see us very often.
Ya know, I think this varies by each individual. Many couples rely on their parents to babysit their kids in order to save money. Many grandparents volunteer their time in an effort to have more quality time with their grandkids. However, if you are uncomfortable and feel as though you are taking advantage, provide food for the kid, something to entertain the kid...perhaps treat your mother on occasion like gift certificates for different things such as spa visits, restaurants and such.
I think it is a nice gesture if you pay your mother for babysitting. I used to pay my mother in law for watching my children and she used it as extra money for herself. You need to do what is fair. Some moms don't expect it but surprise them with a $100 bill or two and they appreciate it.
My mom won't take money but she does like to go out to dinner alot so I always buy her gift cards to her favorite restuarants and she really loves it.
I think it would insult some mothers. I guess it depends on the situation. If you use her as a full time babysitter while you work, then absolutely. But is she comes over on occasion while you get a night out then no. That is what a grandparent does, and usually they look forward to spending time with their grand kids, letting them stay up late, eat chocolate for supper, etc.
You should discuss it with your mom first. Ask her what she thinks a fair rate would be and don't let her say she won't accept money because no matter what she says, she will probably wind up resenting you sooner or later and feel taken advantage of. If she absolutely refuses to accept any payment, make sure that you either give her a gift or take her out to a nice dinner say once a month or so to thank her for all she does for you and your children. You might want to make sure that you acknowledge her in some other ways on a weekly basis so that she knows you appreciate what she does for you, or even just tell her how much you love and appreciate her help.
I have often tried to pay my mother to watch my daughter she always takes the money and buys something for my daughter. I do think that you should pay them something how much is completely dependent upon you and the grandparent.
But there is a line between babysitting and raising.
There are several sides to this issue.
Most grandparents would be offended by the thought of being paid to babysit their grandkids. However, the proper and polite thing to do would be to help minimize the financial elements- if the grandparents are expected to feed the children, offering to offset that kind of cost is fair and appropriate. Doing nice things for the grandparents in return (housework, tax help, etc.) is also good.
There are limits however. Most grandparents feel a certain amount of resentment if:
- It happens at the last minute for a non-emergency situation too often
- It goes too late into the night
- It becomes an expectation that they will just automatically do it anytime
It is also important to note that the age, behaviors, and numbers of children make a difference. Grandparents can be easily overwhelmed by the energy created by several kids, older kids, or wilder kids. They may not admit it, but I have seen a lot of situations where the grandparents simply cannot keep up.
My suggestion: If this is a standing date, say every Friday night, or every work day, etc., then a fair payment is only right. I would even go so far as to suggest that the parent gently force the grandparent to take the money.
However, if it is an occasional thing and the parents are careful to respect the grandparent's situations (not too late, not too many kids, etc.), then a gift of a cake or something would probably be more appreciated.

i love having my grandkids and wouldnt expect anything, alsoi am not old and frail and have more energy than lots of youngsters these days
Yes, and my mother established a savings account for my daughter with the money!!!!
amazing...and you don't have to worry about people abusing your child...or leaving them dirty and in a mess!
I think the parents should at least offer to pay their mother to watch the kids. Most likely the mother would turn them down, they would just enjoy being able to be with their grandchildren. I know when my mom comes over to watch my daughter, especially if I asked her several times in a row, I'll make her dinner or take her out to dinner somewhere. She wouldn't let me pay her, but dinner is always nice. But it's really up to each family how to work out something like that.
old people? You think that all grandparents are elderly?
Regardless of that, no mother should expect a grandparent to babysit at all and if the grandparent does do it for free, that is their decision.
I wouldnt ask to be paid, but if my mom needed the money id offer. If youd feel better then yes ask if its okay to pay.
I whole heartedly agree. They are putting their time and effort into caring for your child. Whether in your home or theirs, compensation for their time and services is the best. Not to mention you get the benefit of a family member caring for your child rather than a stranger. My friend pays her mom $100 a week to watch her 2 kids. I think that is very fair!
Even if I tried, I dont think my mother would ever take money for baby sitting.
Why not 'Pay' her with bringing dinner and flowers along with the kids. That way she can just relax and enjoy them. She will feel appreciated and welcome the treat of having a dinner ready for her.
The couple could do something like offer to buy the mom some groceries in exchange for the babysitting or at least some takeout.
Yes Yes Yes
I would never let my mother babysit my children. But now that my last babysitter is having her baby (in the hospital now, lol), my dad has been babysitting for me while I am at work. He got extremely offended when I offered to pay him.
My GRANDPARENTS, (the kids great grandparents) watched my first son for me for the first four years of his life. I was a single mom, but even if i was married then, they NEVER would have accepted money. In fact, when i insisted that my son go to day care for at least two days a week, they wanted to pay for that. They were in their mid 70's at the time, and they did great!!! It kept them young, busy, and made them sooo happy. Even now they will babysit BOTH my boys sometimes when i have an appointment, and they are 80!!!
Yes you should offer to pay, but i doubt many familes would take that money. Or if they did, i bet they put it back for the kids.
Families that babysit are the best. You can't get better daycare than that!! Well, my son was spoiled to death, but there can be worse things than that!!
You can offer buy most mother won't accept it. So maybe a nice gift would do the trickoil companies

';Famous Couples'; tolo (sadie hawkins), but I am going single. Who should I be?
So there is a Famous Couples tolo (sadie hawkins) going on at my school, and I didn't ask anyone.
So now I am going single.
I want to have a cute idea, but still look good so other singles will notice me!
HELP!';Famous Couples'; tolo (sadie hawkins), but I am going single. Who should I be?
You could be Cher, since Sonny died, but that might be kind of cliche. Any girl from a famous couple that is no more would probably be kind of funny. Do you have to dress like them? You could do like Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt, who aren't together anymore but were once a famous couple? I don't know.';Famous Couples'; tolo (sadie hawkins), but I am going single. Who should I be?
britney spears, but please do wear panties!
Well, the movie star Greta Garbo is the most famous for wanting to be alone...That would mean either dressing very glamorously in a late 1930s-era gown (one cane be made from a pattern) or looking chic in men's dress pants.
You could wear a t-shirt with red underwear showing and torn black fish-net stockings and a Rat-Pack hat and go as Britney.
You could wear a long, demure white dress and go as the poet Emily Dickinson. (You'd surely stand out!)
You could attend the event as Andy Warhol OR Edi Sedgewick.
I'd go with some look you're sure few others will have. After all, your point is to be noticed!

For couples who choose to have a civil marriage and plan for a church wedding later on....?
What are the chances the church wedding might not happen? My best friend is choosing to have her civil marriage this week and apparently wants the church wedding next year...but I have a gut feeling that wedding isn't going to end up happening. For couples who choose to have a civil marriage and plan for a church wedding later on....?
I answered your other question too :-)
Look - don't fret about it yet. You don't know until you ask her.
And even though it sucks, even if it doesn't - you have to try to respect her choices. It may hurt, I would be hurt too, but it's her choice and if she makes that choice, you just have to respect that.
Everyone is different - and she DID ask you to be MOH for a church wedding. She wouldn't do that unless she was sure right? xFor couples who choose to have a civil marriage and plan for a church wedding later on....?
That makes no sense, once they are married, they are married, whether its in the courthouse or the church, you only get to do it once. you can't get married twice to the same person unless you get a divorce and get remarried lol. Why not just have a church wedding to begin with? Also, why would they want a church wedding after being married in a civil union? They obviously don't see marriage as a covenant or they would have had a church wedding to begin with. I never understand these things lol...
Good luck!
OK PEOPLE...LOOK AT THE WORDS..MARRIAGE AND WEDDING..two different things the wedding is purely a CEREMONY to prepare for the actual MARRIAGE...SOLO she can have her WEDDING CEREMONY..some people have a wedding every 10 or 15 years to renew their vows..she may not get it next year a lot of people don't renew a year later but she may set it for the 5 or 10 year mark based on their finances..just support her and wish her the beast IT IS NOT ABOUT THE WEDDING THE MARRIAGE IS THE FOCUS FACTOR..so just support her and pray they make it five years!!
Why wouldnt it? Marriage is marriage. It would just be something like a vow renewel wouldnt it? Theyll still have a document signed and witnessed by an official-judge or priest- saying they were joined in union on this date. Now if the church- wont marry them because they chose to have a civil marriage first- thats a perfect example of why theres a problem with religion right now-judgement.
It just may happen if they plan for it, and they can afford it. More couples are doing this these days for various reasons. Sometimes they need to be legally married before they can have the religious vow renewal ceremony or maybe they can't afford the religious ceremony and reception right away so they go to the courthouse.
Could it be that your friend is doing a cheap civil ceremony now and waiting a year until s/he has a more expensive and lavish wedding? Maybe purely financial? Obviously I don't know your friend, but that is the only reason that I, if I were religious, would do things this way...
I am not sure what the chances are. It wouldn't really be the ';wedding';. Religiously it may be, but when you get legally married like that you give up the big party and gifts, except in a few situations.
It all depends on the couple and their situation. This is their wedding and their decision.
I answered your other question too :-)

Do couples want original wedding music?
I compose orchestral/piano music and was curious if there are couples who would like an original wedding theme? Also, what do you suppose would be a reasonable price?Do couples want original wedding music?
No. People want comfort on their special day. Original music is cool (I am a musician), but I just don't think it is the right time to showcase your talent. I'd bet that the only people that could afford that type of service are not found here.Do couples want original wedding music?
when i got married, they played amen, the country song,my dad loved the song,he is pasted away now.plus i got married on his birthday sept.15.what a nice day to get married on.
I would have to agree with Pappa, while there's a place for original music, I don't think weddings would be that place. And the people who would want something like that don't show up on Yahoo Answers, because they're ultra celebrities, and they'll have John Williams compose their theme, ya know?
I am sure that there are couples who want something orginal to be played while people are coming into the church and waiting for the ceremony to start and also for communion (in some weddings). As to price, you would have to figure what it was worth to you. You would want to copyright the piece and then be allowed to sell it to someone else or not depending on what they agreed to pay. I guess if the only paid a few hundred dollars, then you should be allowed to resell to someone else, but if they paid a couple thousand then it would be original to them and you would not be allowed to sell it elsewhere.

Should couples who have planned an induced abortion be legally killed?
Why did antiabortionist kill Dr. Tiller, if true murderers are the mother and/or the father of the fetal child?Should couples who have planned an induced abortion be legally killed?
Not at all. I think abortion should be the new olympic sport.Should couples who have planned an induced abortion be legally killed?
%26lt;%26lt;Should couples who have planned an induced abortion be legally killed?%26gt;%26gt;
Since abortion currently isn't a crime (it should be), then there is no due process through which they can legally be deprived of their life.
%26lt;%26lt;Why did antiabortionist kill Dr. Tiller, if true murderers are the mother and/or the father of the fetal child?%26gt;%26gt;
Who said the true murderers of the unborn are the mother and/or father ONLY?
The one who actually administers the abortion is every bit as guilty of murder, along with anyone else who in their own way serves as an enabler to an abortion - all guilty of murder.
%26lt;%26lt;If you pay a man to kill you wife, you go to jail.%26gt;%26gt;
Yes, because it is against the law to hire a hitman to kill one's own wife.
%26lt;%26lt;If a couple pays a doctor to kill their fetal baby, they should go to jail.%26gt;%26gt;
No, because it is not against the law to have an abortion.
Abortion SHOULD BE against the law, but it's not.
From a legal standpoint, you don't have an argument.
From a moral standpoint, you do.
until the fetus is born, it does not have a legal right to live.
The parents have the legal right to terminate a pregnancy within the first two trimesters... so, no, they have done nothing wrong.
also, to further weaken your argument, you claim they have only ';planned'; on having an abortion... you cannot be punished for thinking about something.
you should go to hell...
if some one has a baby and cant afford to look after it you judge them as bad parents
if some one deides to terminate the pregnacy because they cant afford to be a good parent you judge
we cant win...

No, capital punishment is an abomination that should remain in the medieval ages. No killing ever should be legal.

A bit extreme
What if the mother is Raped?
Would you force her to go through with it.
Of course not. You're just delusional.

WendyMy boyfriend wants to be The Burger King for Halloween. What would be a good couples idea with that costume?
haha, to the answerer before me, yeah personal trainer! You can werar a jog suit a timer and your hair in a high ponytail and some nikes. Or you can be Wendy or Dairy Queen :)
The Dairy Queen!
What else?
You have to be Dairy Queen! You could go silly, and wear a cow costume and crown (for example), or take it more seriously.
Queen costume, with a Dairy Queen apron.
For the crown, just model it after the swirly ice cream they have, and put a crown around the base.
Well if you want you could be rivals the Burger King and Ronald McDonald. Or as someone else said you could be one of the menu items depending on how big and much you want to spend on the costume. You could be a whopper jr., fries, shake or again you could be a rival character like hamburgler. Use a theme like McDonald sent you to Burger King to steal his hamburgers and see if folks can figure out what you're doing and why you're dressed that way. That would be a fun game for the folks at the party.
The Dairy Queen!!!
A personal trainer.

Is withdrawal syndrome safe to practice between couples?
That syndrome is related to recovery from drug abuse, not a sex act between consenting adults...Is withdrawal syndrome safe to practice between couples?
I don't think its a syndrome but you have a high chance of getting pregnant using withdrawal method. Is withdrawal syndrome safe to practice between couples?
syndrome?
why do you call it a syndrome..
and no its not safe. when condoms and pills arent 100% -
withdrawing it will most certainly not keep the slippery little suckers out...
Ok...
so protect yourself and your partner properly, if you dont want an unwanted pregnancy.
Could you rephrase the question? I don't know what you mean.
what is withdrawal syndrome??
man oh man...
u should stop while you can!!
do you mean the pull method, no that isn't really considered safe sex! his little swimmers release while your having intercourse!!
do you mean withdrawal method? Not always safe cause there is no way of gauging when he comes because there is always pre-come see! :)
not to mention checking for STD's before hand
Takes allot of self control to pull out when your feeling that good .Condoms are cheap and many can get the pill free at health dept
no, because if there is precum you won't know that there is until after you're pregnant. Or you might not get out in time. People get pregnant this way a lot.
If you are talking about the withdrawal method of pulling out before ejaculating, no it is not safe. It is very unreliable and it just depends on if you are lucky or not.
Nope. Several of my friends now how wonderful children thanks to that method. It absolutely doesn't work. There is a ';pre-***'; that comes out before he pulls out...way before...... and it has over 1 million sperm in it. Use Birth Control Pills or condoms.

Is anyone startled by the great lengths couples go through to conceive?
Why don't they adopt as there are many children that need homes? Is it more difficult to adopt? Is it social programming to procreate and have your OWN baby? All of the of above -none of the above or what do you think? Is anyone startled by the great lengths couples go through to conceive?
I think that many people feel a great loss if they can't conceive. I feel like the adoption fees and the hoops you have to go through really limit the number of people willing to do it. It is easy to say people should adopt, but their feelings about it should be honored. Is anyone startled by the great lengths couples go through to conceive?
Some people want to go through the whole process of pregnancy; there's something appealing in carrying a child yourself and actually giving birth to it, and knowing that he or she is really a part of you and your partner.
People fear adoption for a couple of reasons. First, there are so many stories (accurate or not) about the social problems that adopted children have later in life, with fitting in with their adopted families and cultures, and anger issues over being given up by their birth families. Some children up for adoption have issues with drug or alcohol addiction at birth, which can make everything difficult later on in life.
People are also afraid that they won't be able to love a child who is ';someone else's'; as much as they would love a child who is genetically theirs. I believe it is biological programming to want to have a tiny version of yourself, and an adopted child may not necessarily fit that desire.
I agree. I have a friend who gave birth to 2 preemies that lived about 10 minutes. She is pregnant again. Her lining is thin. She had surgery this time when they first found out. If this baby dies as well, can you imagine. There is some baby out there that could have been in a loving home. I don't get it.
i think the drive to procreate is one of the strongest instincts in the world..all animals do it, all species do...its the instinct to prepetuate your own kind-without this, species would dye off...sometimes i think people need to have that fullfilling of creation..,of life and gift.i dont nessesarily think its a programming, but an individuals instincts and hopes..
Yeah and it kinda makes me sad that people with lots of money who want a child can't have one while poor unemployed lazy people who don't want or need kids pop them out constantly, which is what creates a need for adoption. That's the real tragedy here.

Thinks fifties and forties, ask around look at AMC for awhile and you should get some pretty good ideas from the movies, or even go on line. But you could even move through the genres- type in famous couple dance scenes see what comes up and take a piece from each that people would know or whatever works-even dancing with the stars, and dance shows on nowMy boyfriend and i need some good ideas for a dance, the theme is famous couples...ideas anyone?
Dorthy and Scarecrow
Tarzan and Jane
Peter Pan and Wendy Darling
Zeus and Hera
Superman and Lois Lane
The Tooth fairy and a dentist
a cow and a Farmer
Wilma and Fred Flintstone
Mario and Princess Peach
David and Victoria Beckham
Cinderella and Prince Charming
If you don't mind the suggestion of a love triangle, Sam could play ';You Must Remember This'; for Rick and Ilsa to do a nice foxtrot.
Major Nelson and Jeannie (if you have the body for it)
Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers
Gomez %26amp; Morticia Addams
Princess Laia %26amp; Hans Solo or Luke Skywalker
Barbie and Ken
Sandy and Danny from Grease
Mary and Joseph from the Bible
Christine and the Phantom from Phantom of the Opera
I know those may not be amazing ideas, but I can promise that not many (if anyone at all) will show up as those.

What are some of the financial woes couples argue about?
Who makes more? Who spends more? How do you both differ in your financial attitudes? What are some of the financial woes couples argue about?
We only argue when we are broke - which is probably true for most people.
He makes more. I'm SURE I spend more. And our financial attitudes are the same - what's his is mine and what's mine is mine. :)
Seriously... what they say is true. Married people only argue about 3 things: money, kids, and sex. Money is a HUGE stress factor for people unless you just have so much it doesn't matter to you at all. What are some of the financial woes couples argue about?
Money, or the lack of it, causes a lot of problems in marriage. One usually makes more, but one usually spends more. Typically, the one that makes the least, spends the most. That leads to countless arguments.oil companies

Why do they put a sheet between couples during sex scenes in movies?
Even if they show everything why do they still put a blanket or sheet between them? Why do they put a sheet between couples during sex scenes in movies?
it's hollywood. they dont know what their standards areWhy do they put a sheet between couples during sex scenes in movies?
I've never heard of them doing that, but if they do it, I'm sure it's because it makes the actors feel much more comfortable, especially the ones who are married and don't want to be rubbing their body against anyone but their spouse, and I can't blame them.
David Fincher (he was the director of Fight Club, among many others) he actually hates using the actual actor for sex scenes, so he animates all of the sex scenes by using sensors and then CG. I thought that was kinda cool. It made me actually go watch the sex scene in Fight Club (I always look away).
1.part of the bed, you cover yourself with a sheet
otherwise it can easy look like a p';';';n ,if there are no sheets, blankets
